So...Who is Ms. Anthony?
My name is Julie Anthony, and I am a high school Science Teacher (Biology/Life Sciences). I love football and root for the University of Akron Zips, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns at every available opportunity.
I had a BLAST representing The University of Akron at the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Annual Conference in April, 2013. I completed a Master's Degree on May 12, 2013 and graduated from The University of Akron (again:) with a Master of Arts in Secondary Instruction from the College of Education. I'm proud to have earned & graduated with a "nearly" perfect GPA (Grade Point Average).
Here are a few fun facts about my journey to become a teacher:
1. I grew up in Mogadore, Ohio where I earned my High School Diploma - Go Wildcats!
2. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Biology from the University of Akron many years ago.
3. I am currently certified as a Paramedic (Ohio Certification) and I worked for the Northern Ohio Region of the American Red Cross - Blood Services Division for nearly 8 years.
4. I am still an Assistant Instructor of Paramedic Education at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio.
5. I returned to The University of Akron in 2010 as a Graduate Student in the College of Education.
6. In September 2012 became a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society for Graduate Students. I am humbled, yet honored to have been chosen for this distinction which honors my work as a part of the College of Education's Curriculum & Instruction degree program at the University of Akron.
7. I have an incredibly close family including my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, my amazing boyfriend of over 5 years (and his family too), tons of wonderful friends, and last (but definitely not least) my awesome puppy Huckleberry. With work, family, friends and a home life, I am quite busy. I enjoy having such a close group of family and friends, and wouldn't want my life any other way. I am who I am because of each of these amazing people...

My Alma Mater:
The University of Akron!
Below is a quick slide-show that contains some pictures from Ms. Anthony's Graduation Ceremony! Ms. Anthony graduated from The University of Akron's College of Education where she earned & received a Master of Arts Degree (M.A.) in Secondary Instruction on May 12, 2013!
A Tribute to my Huckleberry!
Huckleberry is a rescue dog that is part Springer Spaniel, part Jack Russell Terrier, part German Short Haired Pointer, part every-other-breed imaginable. He came into my life when he was around 6 months old. Huckleberry & I celebrate his Founder's Day Anniversary on November 2nd (Founder's Day marks the day Huck found his forever home, and I found my best canine friend). It's a huge celebration because Huckleberry is my best buddy and an incredible companion to all who know him!
My Huckleberry came from a dumpster but was rehabbed at a no-kill shelter in Akron, Ohio. While his life may have had a rough start, Huckle is the happiest puppy I have ever met. Just like his Mom, this special dog has never met a stranger! He always seems to be smiling, and he is the most comforting, loyal and loveable little guy in the whole world. All who know Huckleberry agree that he seems to always be smiling, like he's stuck in a puppy's body even though he's growing up. His youthfulness is refreshing and admirable.
Huckleberry enjoys almost every experience that occurs in life. He truly embraces and fully enjoys everything that comes his way. I wish I was more like him in that regard. Huck never turns down the opportunity for a car ride, a nice walk, going to our neighbor's home & begging for treats, cuddling & playing with his bucket-o-toys, & avoiding the rain and other "bad" weather (he's a bit quirky, like his mom, lol). I hope you enjoy seeing a couple pictures of my Huckleberry! I have added a link to One of A Kind Pet Rescue here for more information regarding animal adoption.

Holden Beach,
North Carolina!
These are photographs from Holden Beach, N.C.! My family has gone to this beach since before it was founded in the 1960's. We return each year to spend time together & relax. Holden Beach is near the border with South Carolina, not far from Myrtle Beach (~40 miles). We rent a HUGE beach house to share. At times we have had over 25 people in a 10 bedroom home!
We have a great time together and look forward to our annual trek! Each year brings more stories & traditions. My cousin James & I caused a hilarious fiasco when we went to get postcards to send home to our friends, ice and ice cream. Together, we nearly destroyed a rental car, and there was NOT a motor vehicle collision involved! We also managed to keep the incredible screw-up a secret for 5 years...long after we would have gotten into trouble for our goofiness & stupidity. Oops! It was an innocent (& ridiculously funny) accident! When my cousins and I do anything, it tends to become legendary. We would NOT want it any other way!
